Faces in the Mirror

I had my own face
When I wandered through Vietnam.
There I looked in the mirror
And it was me I saw,
Bright blue eyes blazing,
Not my mother’s face and frown.

I want my own face back
No longer lost in space and time
Post-divorce withered landscape.
I want to plant my feet
On the earth and go deep
Listening to the heartbeat of the world…

Wanderer.
